How a UPC number is built
A UPC-A has 12 digits. The first part is your GS1 company prefix, the next part is the item reference you assign to each product, size or color, and the last digit is a check digit calculated from the other 11. Every product variant needs its own number.
Print UPCs black on a white or light background. Red, orange and yellow bars disappear under a red scanner laser, and shrinking the bars below 80% of standard size makes them hard to scan at checkout.
